About Occunol Formula
Nutrina's Occunol Formula contains vision-enhancing herbs and nutraceuticals in a special mixture. As discovered through extensive scientific research, each of the nutrients in Occunol Formula contributes to healthy eyes.
BilberryBilberry, Vaccinum myrtillus, grows on shrubs in northern Europe, Canada, and the United States. The blue-black berries are used for medicinal purposes, though the leaves may also contain beneficial properties. British RAF pilots in World War II claimed to have better night vision after eating bilberry jam. Numerous scientific studies have confirmed that bilberry can not only slow down visual degeneration but actually improve vision.
The active chemical constituents found in bilberry are polyphenolic flavonols called anthocyanosides. Anthocyanosides stimulate the production of rhodopsin, a purplish protein pigment in the eyes' retinal rods that is necessary for good night vision. Lab studies also indicate bilberry's chemicals assist with eye problems like glaucoma, cataracts, and macular degeneration (a common cause of blindness in adults).
Eyebright
Eyebright (great name, don't you think?), Euphrasia officinalis, refers to a vast genus containing over 450 species. Eyebright grows in meadows, pastures, and grassy areas in Bulgaria, Hungary, and the former Yugoslavia. Because of eyebright's rich content of glycosides and flavonoids, herbalists have long recommended eyebright to treat eye inflammations, eye fatigue, and disturbances of vision.
Beta-CaroteneBeta-carotene is a plant pigment that's converted to vitamin A in the body. It is considered the most active carotenoid (red, orange, and yellow plant pigments that give fruits and vegetables their vivid colors). Beta-carotene acts as a potent antioxidant in the body which protects against macular degeneration in the eyes. Age-related macular degeneration is the leading cause of irreversible blindness in adults.
Lutein and D.Salina
Occunol Formula contains additional carotenoids in lutein and D. salina. Lutein is found in high concentrations in the macular region. Clinical studies indicate lutein's antioxidant properties protect the eye from harmful free radical damage. D. salina is a naturally occurring food that is packed with health-promoting nutrients. Antioxidants in D. salina also protect the body from free radicals. Occunol Formula also contains quercitin, a potent bioflavonoid and antioxidant.
Other Ingredients
A vitamin-like antioxidant called Alpha lipoic acid (ALA) is a vital addition to the formula. ALA is capable of regenerating several other antioxidants back to their active states, including vitamin C, and vitamin E (both of which are found in Occunol Formula). Evidence indicates ALA taken daily for one month improves visual function in people with glaucoma (an eye disease which can lead to blindness). Selenium, a strong antioxidant that works synergistically with vitamin E, rounds out the product
